It’s Rhiannon Morrigan here. Yes, that Rhiannon Morrigan.

I keep starting this and deleting it. Not because I don’t have anything to say, but because I’ve got far too much.

Since everyone’s already talking about me, I may as well take control of the narrative—because if there’s one thing I’m excellent at, it’s pretending I’m in control.

So here’s the only update I’m willing to give: I’m fine.

Not “fine” like I’m thriving. Fine like I’m upright, I’ve trained twice this week, and I haven’t cried in Asda's car park since Tuesday.

If you’ve heard rumours, I’m sure they’re mostly true. That’s the thing about living in a small town like Larne—you can’t sneeze without someone writing a full backstory for it.

I’ve always been good at keeping my head down. At doing what I’m meant to do, at being the strong one, the reliable one, the one who doesn’t make a show of herself.

Turns out I’m not as good at it as I thought.

I can feel the town watching me, the whispers, people deciding what kind of woman I am now, based on the worst day of my life.

So, if you’re reading this and wondering what to say to me, here it is: Don’t ask me if I’m okay. Don’t tell me everything happens for a reason. And for the love of all that's Holy, don’t tell me I’m “so brave.”

I’m still here. Still training. Still stubborn. Still not taking anyone’s shite on the field.

And I’m trying, really trying, to figure out who I am when I’m not doing what I’m supposed to.
