Howdy y'all!

I bet you thought you weren't hearing from me today, eh? It was a busy day. It's my friend's birthday today and my husband's tomorrow so I was baking cakes (plural) and I just got home from a chest X-ray (TB screening because we lived in India.)

I have the bestest, most feel good story of the entire pandemic right here for your enjoyment...

Two weeks ago, my best friend in the entire world landed on my doorstep in Northern Ireland, from Iowa. I hadn't seen her in four years, and in our seventeen year friendship, that was the longest we'd ever gone without seeing each other in-the-flesh. It has been pretty hellish. But she (a mother of a medically complex heart warrior and wearer of many hats) flew across the entire world, in a pandemic, to spend a week with me here in Ireland and I can't begin to tell you how good it was for both of us.

I had ZERO idea that she was coming. She schemed with my husband and another friend - Amy - to make it happen. Amy took time off work to take care of my 'nephew' AJ, and my husband told me he was going to a work meeting when he was really going to pick her up (even put on a dress shirt for 'work' before he went to the airport and EVERYTHING.)

Guys, I stared at her in stunned silence before I threw my arms around her and wept.

She brought with her a 50lb suitcase of stuff from the US for me. I'd sent a few things to her house (I tend to send shopping to her place and collect it when I go visit,) she brought boxes from Amy, snacks, supplies, and matching GOLDEN GIRL PJ BOTTOMS - so obviously we had to watch Golden Girls!!

We went to Dublin for the weekend, had craft gin in a gay bar where we accidentally joined a dog's birthday party (that's going in a book), we ate pizza while walking through the magical city of Dublin and it almost felt... normal.

It was the best week, in the worst of times. It did my soul good to hang out with her at a hockey game, talk to her into the wee hours, get matching tattoos and play Mario Kart with her and my kid.

So here's your PSA - when was the last time you talked to your best friend? Is it time to pick up the phone? Since she's returned home we've watched a movie together, and this weekend we're slated for a family Mario Kart session across the miles. Honestly, y'all... my heart <3

Anyways, I have stuff to share!! Yes, yes, I do! For those of you who love Jeremy and the gang from my earlier series - hold up. This is for you. Yes, you! Some of you may remember the Hellcats anthology I was a part of a while back, well, we did a 'sequel'.

It's a charity anthology to raise money to keep an old lady in her home. The stories are all about DOGS this time - and I threw a short story about Jeremy and Chelsea Dog-sitting while Lisa, AJ and the kids went on vacay. It's a great collection of stories for a good cause.

Last but not least, for those of you waiting for Austin's story in the Snow Pirates series - you're going to wanna click here. It's coming in early April and I have to say... he might be my favorite. I'm very excited about this book!!!

After Austin, Will will be released in June - for those of you asking if he'll get a book, he will. Anyway, I'm off to decompress with an episode of Teen Wolf - my current guilty pleasure - before hitting the hay. 5am comes around quickly!

Until next time,
