Update for 30th September 2022

as Salaamu Alaykum,

My intention with these newsletters is to synthesise beneficial information for you in sha Allah.

A bit of a light one this week.

Managing Social Media

Once you have built a large page, then the social media game is easy. It's easy from the perspective of management because you will likely be able to justify the expense of outsourcing it and this then makes it easier from a soul perspective in that you will not have to spend as long on it to achieve your aims with it.

It's a strange thing really that a lot of the prolific content creators out there especially in the productivity space, hardly spend any time on social media themselves but simply leverage the platforms for their business or profile goals by sharing with people who spend hours on the same platforms.

I was thinking about this as uploading content onto the various platforms has to be one of the tasks I don't particularly enjoy and will look to delegate once it is feasible to do so within the project's ecosystem (without funding it myself).

I recently started building my Linkedin profile in order to do some direct outreach and I had to fight the urge to not get dragged into the game of it. I try to upload or post like a robot with ambivalence lol. We can choose which "games" we want to emotionally invest in, and social media is definitely not one of them when death is around the corner...

Health :

Tools of Titans by Timothy Ferriss

“One study has demonstrated that a 30-minute sauna session twice a week for 3 weeks post-workout increased the time it took for study participants to run until exhaustion by 32% compared to baseline. The 32% increase in running endurance found in this particular study was accompanied by a 7.1% increase in plasma volume and 3.5% increase in red blood cell count.”

Book Review

Got so many books open on my Kindle app at the moment all at varying percentage completion so I'll just pick a random one out of them.

100M offers by Alex Hormzoi is a good one if you're into selling or marketing

Product

LMNT Electrolytes. This is one of those products that feature heavily on a lot of podcasts I listen to so I'm sure the advertising chipped away until I thought it was a good idea to buy flavoured salt essentially.

Surprisingly, it helps manage sweet cravings. I usually get sweet cravings after waking up and this helps me get rehydrated and has a bit of stevia mixed in which does away with the cravings

It's not worth it though so I found a cheaper but very similar product called re-lyte.

Some quotes from my readings:

Revive Your Heart by Nouman Ali Khan

Did you imagine that We created you without any purpose, and that you will not be brought back to Us? (Al-Mu’minūn 23: 115)

Sizing People Up by Robin Dreeke and Cameron Stauth

Unreliable people are frequently careless about appearance and physical presentation.

The Art of Worldly Wisdom by Baltasar Gracián, Joseph Jacobs (Translator)

Wise men arm themselves with tasteful and elegant erudition; a practical knowledge of what is going on not of a common kind but more like an expert.

The Daily Laws by Robert Greene

On the internet, it is easy to find studies that support both sides of an argument. In general, you should never accept the validity of people’s ideas because they have supplied “evidence.” Instead, examine the evidence yourself in the cold light of day, with as much skepticism as you can muster.

The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson, John David Mann

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”

The Courage to Be Happy by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga

For the first-born child, and also for the only child, the greatest privilege may be that one had a time in which one monopolised one’s parents’ love. Later-born children do not have the experience of monopolising their parents. (Location 2,901)

Your note: Unless there is a differentiating factor e.g. some skill or illness

Unscripted - The Great Rat-Race Escape by MJ DeMarco

To identify a business model, reverse engineer the solution evolving from the best customer experience and problem solve from there.

The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker

Since 75 percent of spousal murders happen after the woman leaves, it is estrangement, not argument, that begets the worst violence.

"Keep ignoring feedback and life will keep teaching you the same lesson."

Something unrelated but I found interesting:

One question to ask ourselves

What do all of my "good" days have in common? List them
