Update for 04/11/2022
as Salaamu Alaykum,
My intention with these newsletters is to synthesise beneficial information for you in sha Allah.
The podcast with Br Paul Williams of Blogging Theology has been uploaded. A great response so far Alhamdulillah.
On buying online courses
This week purchased the Freshly Grounded Podcast course to learn from the biggest podcast in the (albeit somewhat different) space. I have never really shied from investing in courses and as I acquire more skills their utility becomes ever more clear to me.
I think millennials especially still have some limiting thoughts or unhealthy scepticism around purchasing "information" products. I've never really shared the sentiment. Firstly, the products themselves are generally quite cheap so even in the worst-case scenario of the person/organisation simply taking your money and closing down never to be heard of again, it's not devastatingly bad.
Secondly, what's the likelihood of someone whose free information was so valuable for you, not providing multiple times that value if they are charging for it and are trying to build a business in the online space?
Alex Hormozi's thoughts have heavily impacted me on this. Can you learn everything yourself using Google/YouTube? Probably. But you are not paying for knowledge, as we all have access to that anyway but you don't see millionaire Imams with six packs. You're paying for accountability and time-saving potential.

I got this from Ali Abdaal's newsletter. "Essentially a whiteboard that sticks on any wall (using static electricity), which you can roll up after you’re done using it. It’s been great for" Link: https://amzn.to/3U4bXEE
Something unrelated but I found interesting:
An online influencer in the productivity space called Andrew Kirby created "Alex Hormozi's Brain" - he essentially got all of Hormozi's content from all formats transcribed into a searchable database. link: https://www.skool.com/synthesizers/classroom/8c2bec76?md=45522123f102450d8a2032b3184ba4e2
I was thinking about how we could do the same for Muslim scholars and thinkers of the past.
One question to ask ourselves
What's one thing that every time I spend time on, I regret?
Some quotes from my readings:
The Way of the Spiritual Muslim by Ikram Hawramani, Ibn al-Jawzi, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, al-Ghazali, Rumi, Ibn Ata Allah al-Sikandari,...
Bishr al-Hāfī was visited by some people who saw that there was not a rug in his house [to sit on]. They asked him, “Doesn’t it hurt you [to have nothing soft to sit on]?” He said, “This will pass.” (Location 694)

"Every transaction is paid for at least three times. First, with the money you pay. Second, with the time you spend. Third, with the reputation you create through your behavior.
Being pleasant, reliable, and easy to work with might cost you a little more time. Perhaps even a bit of extra money. But the long-term returns from a great reputation usually outweigh the cost of a single transaction.
Most of the value in life and in business arises out of good relationships." James Clear
Surrounded by Psychopaths by Thomas Erikson
It’s not possible to cure psychopathy. It’s a personality disorder caused by an abnormality in the brain. (Location 3,383)

On Automation
Almost everything we do as responsible adults in the world is set up inefficiently. By improving our systems, we buy ourselves time and energy. And then with this time and energy, we are able to be better at what we do, to get more done, to be more present for the people who depend on us. Ryan Holiday
