Update for 31 May 2022.
as Salaamu Alaykum,
Update on Optimized Muslim
Alhamdulillah, feeling excited about everything going on currently with the project. Recently gained over 200 subscribers from the last video (link below) and although this doesn't really mean anything for our reward and niyyah, it creates a semblance of "momentum". Also, these newsletters actually take some time and thought, if you benefit, consider forwarding to some of your contacts. The last newsletter was in June of 2021 but I intend for it to be much more regular going forward. Letting you know as you're one of the old time subscribers but let me know if you don't care and just want the quotes etc lol. Lastly, the website has been massively updated and now looks pretty good. As i say this, the images have stopped loading 😂 but check it out optimizedmuslim.com
An Idea I was thinking about this week
The importance of having some way of diversifying your income so that you have an "integrity buffer". If you are relying on a single source of income i.e the decisions of one HR department or Director, are you not more likely to to "let things slide" in order to maintain your position? As you move into the different phases of life involving family and children, this only becomes even more important. I discussed this idea with brother Abu Musa who I interviewed for the podcast. Be sure to look out for that episode all about self employment and finances!
Reminder that affected me this week
"Do not befriend a fāsiq [one who believes in God but freely disobeys Him], for one who betrays his first Giver of blessings is not going to be loyal toward you." Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya
Hadith
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.”
Seerah 💚
"At the time when Muhammad ﷺ was born, Makkah was inhabited by the Quraysh tribe, which was recognized by all Arabs as the master tribe. Before the Quraysh, Makkah belonged to the tribe of Khuzāʿah, which in turn had taken over from Jurhum. Muhammad ﷺ belonged to the Hāshim clan, which had held authority in Makkah for several generations. In fact, his grandfather, ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, was the chief of Makkah," Muhammad ﷺ, Adil Salahi
A quote to think about
"If you want to know where your heart is, see where your mind goes when it wanders"

Book recommendation
Peak - Anders Ericsson and Robert Paol. My rating: 7/10
"From the world's reigning expert on expertise comes a powerful new approach to mastering almost any skill"
Content I found beneficial this week:
A very helpful Youtube Channel about self employment, escaping the 9-5, life as an entrepreneur, making hijrah. A guest on this week's podcast. Check it out: Abu Musa
Product I'm trying:
I needed a sugar-free (no aspartame) sweetener for my egg white protein so tried Nick's Stevia drops. They have various different flavours, Check them out
More quotes:
"The intelligent person is one who holds themselves accountable and acts for what's after death; the invalid is the person who makes his soul follow his desires then has high hopes in God." (Ahmed and alTirmidhi)
One question to ask ourselves
How long before you're forgotten on the Dunya? No matter who you are. We are nothing without Allah ﷻ

Wait, isn't Optimized Muslim about Self Development?
Yes, and having a correct understanding of Islam as well as being equipped to intellectually defend traditional Islam is of paramount importance if you are to be a proud and practising Muslim.
