Hello ,
How are you doing? How was last week for you?
For me, I have a message from something that happened to me last week. My message is - Listen to Yourself.
So, last week, I got on social media. It was a casual visit and whilst I was there, I noticed there was a message about somebody who had passed away. Her name was Mandisa.
Immediately I saw her, I recognised her face as one I might have seen before. I also felt like I might have heard her music before.
So, I decided to spend my weekend listening to some of her songs. The first one I played on my Spotify is was ‘You’re an overcomer’, the next one I played was ‘Good morning’ and the last one was ‘What scars are For’.
Listening to this, I thought to myself, as inspiring and motivational as these songs are, did she ever listen to herself? Did she ever listen to the words of these songs?
Then I thought to myself, wow, the words of these songs encouraged me so much. They motivated me. They spoke to my spirit. But then I thought, did she ever listen to the words in her own song? Did she ever listen to herself say these words?
I pondered and I wondered.
One thing it left me with was that sometimes we are quick to give people advice but really slow to listen to our own advice.
Today I’m asking you to give yourself some advice and listen to yourself.
You’re an overcomer!!
Every day you wake up this week, say to yourself, it’s a good morning.
Every scar you face, say, “My scars are part of my future,”
Don’t throw in the towel. Don’t give up on life. But really, it’s not about listening to me but listening to your own self.
Call to Action - This week, I want you to sit yourself down, tell yourself some hard truths and listen to yourself.
Stay Inspired.
Shine on.
