Hello ,
Welcome to July!
We are officially in the second half of the year.
Let’s talk about something I'm struggling with.
Being Present.
In this conversation… in this season… being present.
I’ll be honest with you and tell you that this is something I’ve struggled with. Being in the moment. Being in the now. Being fully aware of where I am, emotionally, mentally, spiritually.
Something happened this weekend that really opened my eyes. And I want to share it with you.
I’ve always been the “busy” one.
There’s always something to do, somewhere to go, someone to call or attend to. Constant activity. Constant motion.
Then, something happened (learn more in my video 😁)
If you've watched then you know why we were just present as a family.
And after this, I caught myself constantly checking—“What next? What do I need to do?”
Meanwhile, my husband was relaxed. The kids were settled. I handed them some coloring activities, and I watched my children begin to blossom.
No distractions. No rushing out. No “event.”
Just presence. Wholesome, simple presence.
And I paused and thought… Why do I always feel like I have to go out to experience family time? Why do I feel like I must be doing something to feel fulfilled?
The truth hit me hard that Sometimes we’re so busy forming busy, we miss the very peace we’re searching for.
So, Let Being Present Be the Gift to Yourself
This year, one of my personal goals is to be still. To be present. To stop trying to prove I'm productive. And yesterday reminded me how hard that actually is for some of us.
But also how beautiful it can be.
Eventually, we all sat in the living room, something we hardly ever do. We watched a movie, relaxed, and just existed together. No agenda. No expectations.
And it was one of the most peaceful evenings I’ve had in a long time.
I don’t watch TV. I’m always doing something. But yesterday, I did. I just sat. I thought. I reflected. I went to bed early. The kids did too. And I woke up refreshed.
So I’m sharing this with you not because I have it figured out, but because I don’t.
And maybe you’re like me. Maybe you’ve been running around trying to check off a million things. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that rest has to be earned. That family time has to be outside your home. That presence can only happen in planned moments.
But what if presence is the gift you’re denying yourself?
💡 Make This Your Mantra: Be Present.
Just. Be. Present.
Not “fake busy.”
Not stressed.
Not chasing.
Because here’s the truth:
When you are present…
You become thankful for what you already have.
You start noticing the people around you.
You realize you’ve already achieved more than you give yourself credit for.
You stop striving for what you already carry.
A Bible Scripture related to this that hits hard and let me say that again: In quietness and in stillness… shall be your strength. (Isa. 30:15)
Not in motion.
Not in hustle.
Not in overthinking.
But in stillness.
So friends—moms, dads, professionals, leaders, dreamers…
Whoever you are, wherever this finds you: Be present.
Let being present be the gift you give yourself the rest of this year.
You might just find what you’ve been looking for was already in your home… your heart… your hands.
Because I believe the world needs more of us… present.
Be present. In stillness and quietness… will your strength be.
Have a fantastic rest of 2025.
With love and light,
Olamidotun.
P.S.: Feel free to forward this to someone who needs a little reminder and encouragement.
Affirmation for the week
“I choose to be present in this moment,
knowing it is enough.
I release the need to rush and
embrace the peace of stillness.
My worth is not defined by my busyness,
but by my being.
I am fully here, mind, body, and spirit
and I am grateful.
In quietness and stillness,
I discover my strength and clarity.
Today, I give myself the gift of presence,
and it is beautiful.”
