A new look (and a new voice) for the series

Hey ,

I have some major updates regarding the future of the series, including a fresh look and a significant evolution in how I’m telling this story.

The New Look

I’m currently in the process of getting a full set of new covers for the series. I’ve decided to go in a different creative direction that better fits the market and the vision I have for these books. You can start finding the new designs on the website now. Here is a look at Dawning of Darkness's new cover:

Perfecting Afterworld

Beyond the visual update, I’ve decided to rewrite Afterworld one last time. This book has been a massive part of my journey as an author, and through this process, I’ve finally found my writer's voice.

I want the first book in the series to be a thrilling, fun, depressing, and slightly disgusting journey that you experience right alongside the characters. To show you what I mean by "finding my voice," here is a quick look at the "Before" current "5th edition" and the "After" my current rewrite "beta draft":

The before:

Drifting—falling through the sky—a young man opened his eyes to what seemed to be nothing more than a dream. The man had often dreamed lucidly. Sometimes, it was more vivid than others, but he always understood who he was and felt that once again, his mind was making up stories.
Floating downward, a gentle wind brushed against the man's skin, lifting his hair. He smiled upward, unbothered as the moonlit clouds passed above, and for a moment, he simply watched—weightless.
This is amazing, he mused.
Yet something felt off. His lucid dreams always carried a haze, a soft blur where even the sharpest sensations—pain that was unbearable, flavors that were divine—never felt quite real, and he could wake up at will. But now, the wind’s bite was crisp, and no matter how hard he tried, his mind refused to snap him back to the waking world.
Panic set in. He slapped his cheeks, pinched his arms, expecting that same fogginess, but the pain was sharp, immediate. Warm air wrapped around him, unnatural at this height. His chest rose and fell in quick bursts, lungs full—too full—of oxygen that shouldn’t be here. His mind screamed for answers, but gravity demanded urgency.

The after:

Drifting—free-falling—the man's eyes flew open. Wind roared with a chaotic howl all around, filling his head. Moonlit clouds rushed past in silvery white streaks. His hair lashed upward in sporadic waves, bangs beating against his forehead as yellow and black plaid fabric rose from his shirt in the same direction.
Another lucid dream?
Just another illusion caused by his overactive imagination? Or if he'd believed what someone else had called it—perhaps the late-night ramblings of some Adult Swim show—they were a door to another realm.
His fingers moved through the warm air. The wind's harsh pressure cut through the interdigital spaces. No blur, no fuzzy dream glaze that accompanied even his clearest hallucinations. He slapped his cheeks, pinched his arms, and bit his lip. The pain of each action was sharp—the taste of iron on his tongue.
This… something's not right!

What This Means for the Schedule

Because I am committed to this new direction, I have pulled the original version of Afterworld from the market. While the series is currently missing its first entry, it won't be for long.

I know delays are never ideal, but I truly believe these changes are for the good of the series and for your experience as a reader.

Thank you for sticking with me through this evolution. If you have any questions about the new covers or the upcoming releases, please reach out!

As always, stay posted.
