Welcome to 2026!
I hope the new year has started with renewed energy and purpose for each of you. As we look ahead, I am reminded of the incredible strength, resilience, and brilliance that defines our community of women in medicine here in Saskatchewan.
This year promises to be a landmark year for our organization. We are not just growing; we are thriving. From our networking initiatives to our advocacy for inclusivity and leadership, SWIM continues to be a safe harbour and a launching pad for women physicians and medical students across the province.
We have so much to celebrate, and I am thrilled to share some major updates with you below—including the official launch of our SWIM Scholarship applications, new partnership opportunities, and the countdown to our biggest night of the year!

The "SWIMNN" Gala is Back – And Bigger Than Ever!
Mark your calendars and get your outfits ready, because the 2026 SWIM Networking Night is officially set for March 21st in Regina!
This isn’t just a meeting; it is a celebration of us. We are taking over the beautiful The Hotel Saskatchewan for an evening dedicated to connection, relaxation, and empowerment. Whether you are a medical student, a resident, or a practicing physician, this is your night to unwind, meet mentors and friends, and enjoy the supportive community we’ve built together.

🎓 FEATURE: SWIM Scholarship Launch

We are incredibly proud to announce the launch of SWIM Scholarship!
Our goal with this initiative is simple: to invest in the future of women in medicine and support those who demonstrate exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to their community.
Timeline:
- Applications Open: January, 12, 2026
- Submission Deadline: February 13th, 2026
- Winner Announcement: March 6th, 2026
If you are a medical student who embodies the values of SWIM, or if you know someone who does, get ready to apply!
Eligibility requirements
• Identity | Self-identify as a woman |
• Enrollment
| Currently enrolled in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan (pre-clerkship or clerkship years) |
• Academic Status | Full-time student in good academic standing. |
• Residency or connection | Saskatchewan residency or demonstrated meaningful connection to Saskatchewan (education, community service, family, or plans to practice in the province). |
