Learn: Ultimate compliment, writing vs promoting, Bezos strategy

Read: 3 mins

Greetings from Austin,

This is the 100th week of sending this newsletter.

In a row. Every Sunday morning (no missed weeks)!

*deep exhale*

Anddd we’re just getting started.

But first, a sincere thank you for reading these. I LOVE your replies each week and connecting over your insights from these emails.

🙌 The Ultimate Compliment

One of my favorite questions is, “What is the ultimate compliment someone can give to you?”

It reveals a lot about someone.

My answer is simple. That someone read my writing and how it was helpful for them.

(Okay if I'm honest, it's probably that I seem funny/smart/likable too. But I'll unpack that more another time.)

What’s the ultimate compliment someone can give you?

✍️ Writing vs Promoting

I started this newsletter December 2021, and each week focused on 3 things:

  • Consistency (keep showing up)
  • Improvement (keep making it better)
  • The reader (keep adding value, cut everything else)

Those 3 things will always be the focus. But now I am going to start promoting it too! May as well see if we can grow this thing, right? (And of course share key learnings with you.)

I researched a bunch of testimonial tools and found the best one. (I’ll share other tools and the new platform I’m switching to soon.)

Now one ask for you...

If you've found any of these emails valuable, can you submit a quick testimonial for me here? (I know a video is a big ask, so quick text works just fine!)

Honestly, it would make my day (ngl, it would make my month). THANK YOU! THANK YOU! 🙏

🕤 Future

Everyone asks Jeff Bezos the same question.

They want to know, “What’s going to change in the next 10 years?”

But Bezos says he never gets this better question (which he prefers):

“What is NOT going to change in the next 10 years?”

This was the question that informed the early strategy at Amazon. It was impossible to imagine a future in 10 years where customers say, "I love Amazon I just wish the prices were a little higher. Or the packages came a little slower."

So consider for yourself: what’s NOT going to change in 10 years?

One thing that is NOT going to change for me, is writing and sharing ideas on the internet. I look forward to sharing and connecting more with you for the next 10+ years.

Much love,

Mitchell
