Learn: Fun vs. work, rising environments, Munger wisdom

Read: 3 mins

Greetings from Mexico,

Here are your 3 goodies of the week.

🤔 Fun vs Work

I love this prompt:

“What feels like fun to you, but to others looks like work?”

Mine involves connecting with people over interesting ideas.

Here’s what that looked like this week:

Wed: I guest lectured at a UT business class. (H/T to my friend Cam Houser

Thurs: I was invited by Nick Gray to one of his epic business saloon events

Today: On my way to Mexico for our annual AppSumo company retreat

Here’s a photo from Nick’s business/connection event. He's a PRO at coordinating these events.

Note to self: do more of these activities.

Consider for yourself: what feels like fun, but to others looks like work?

🔥 Rising Environments

The Tim Tebow Florida Gators football era was insane.

While most kids were out partying Friday nights, the Gator football team would hit the gym...at MIDNIGHT.

They'd go HARD and push each other to become better.

No surprise this led to winning two national championships.

I recently watched Untold: Swamp Kings on Netflix and LOVED the intensity they brought toward achieving a shared goal. Yes, it was intense, but they all improved because of it.

Here’s a clip of their workouts (be prepared to run through a wall).

Question to consider: how does your environment get the best out of you?

🧠 Munger Wisdom

Charlie Munger passed away this week at 99 years old. He’s been the GOAT investor and mental model thinker for decades.

I love his advice on career:

“I have three basic rules. Meeting all three is nearly impossible, but you should try anyway:

1. Don’t sell anything you wouldn’t buy yourself.

2. Don’t work for anyone you don’t respect and admire.

3. Work only with people you enjoy.

I have been incredibly fortunate in my life: with Warren I had all three.”

Wise words from a wise man. RIP.

Salud,

Mitchell
