You are born looking like your parents.
But you die looking like your decisions.
3 ways to sharpen your decision-making this week.
🤔 Past, Future, Present
- Living in the past = depression
- Living in the future = anxiety
- Living in the present = peace
I know what you’re thinking... Cool, what do I do with this?
I gotchu.
If (when) I stress about the past or future stuff, I remember this image. Specifically the middle.
And my brain can’t help but reframe:
- Past: d̵e̵p̵r̵e̵s̵s̵i̵o̵n̵ → appreciation for my journey
- Future: a̵n̵x̵i̵e̵t̵y̵ → excitement for paths to come
- Present: Peace → enjoyment for the process
🍀 Luck Surface Area
Jason Roberts coined the term “luck surface area” in 2010.
It’s the amount of serendipity in your life, which is proportional to the degree you’re passionate about something combined with the total # of people you tell.
It’s powerful, because when you strip down the formula… you make your own luck.
Luck = Doing * Telling
So the more you do and the more you tell people about it, the larger your surface area becomes.
“When you do something you're excited about you'll naturally pull others into your orbit.”
