Pro tips for weddings

Greetings from San Clemente.

Had a fun realization this week.

Ever notice when someone is legit EXCITED to see you?

Not the standard, “hey, how ya been?”

I’m talking, ear-to-ear smile and hug. Wayyy different from the default greeting. Sincere too, therefore, making you feel amazing.

So it had me thinking... I want to GIVE this type of energy.

No harm in letting people know I’m pumped to see them.

Small reminder I’ve used: there’s something in everyone we meet that we’ll like. Just a matter of finding it.

Best part is we don’t actually need to find it. But the small shift in how we see people makes a huge difference in our energy.

Okay, let’s boogie.

💒 Wedding Hacks

I’ve been to quite a few weddings now and have learned some lessons.

Here are my favorite pro tips:

  • Not sure if you’ve met someone before? Stick with the “good to see you” greeting. (Even if we’ve never met... It’s still good to see ya!)

  • Can’t remember your friends’ kids' names? Just say, “how’s the little one?!” This gender-neutral question saves me every time.

  • Maximize rehearsal (or cocktail hour). Greet all your homies early and introduce yourself to people you definitely don’t know. Rest of the weekend is 10x more fun when you know everyone.

Bonus Tip: introduce yourself to the bride or groom’s parents (yes even the side that you don’t know). Tell them one thing you like about their son/daughter. Then watch their face light up with pure joy.

💻 Tech Tool

Ampie is a Chrome extension that shows you Twitter and other backlinks for any webpage.

I stumble on tons of cool stuff online each week. But sometimes it’s hard to tell if they’re legit or not.

So I’ve been using Ampie to quickly screen for credibility.

This week a friend shared a cool non-profit event her dad founded called Hi, How Are You.

With Ampie, you can see who tweeted links to the page or Twitter handle. (Ex: Tim Ferriss RT’d which signals high level of credibility)

It’s also great to quickly vet book reviews.

Until next week.

Much Love,
