Blessed Yule and Happy Holidays, Strawberries!
Snow has blanketed Strawberry, KY, but the rumor mill says it won’t last long. It’s forecasted to be over 60 degrees Fahrenheit this weekend. Who’s dreaming of a brown Christmas? Maybe that’s why I’m celebrating Yule with swamp monsters instead of snow monsters. When you can’t have Tundra tickles, I guess tentacles are the next best thing…if you don’t mind the slime.
Ready to get dirty in the swamp? Clutching Her Fishman’s Roe ARCs are on BookSprout. This 1920s horror romance picks up where Clutching Cthulhu’s Pearls left off. Leopold has sunk to a new low, picking women off the streets of Boston to participate in his diabolical experiments. He’s ensnared Diana and her brother, Allen, under the guise of employment as his housekeeper and groundskeeper. It doesn’t matter to him that Diana carries a baby out of wedlock. In fact, that’s why he targeted her… Scared yet?
Thanks to all the love and support you showed to Clutching Cthulhu’s Pearls, I promised a horror romance trilogy. I’ve officially named this trilogy “The Pearl Clutchers” even though it is part of the Time for Monsters multiauthor series. If you voted on my Patreon, you already know what I’m about to announce. Book 3, the book of Leopold’s daughter, Ellenore, won’t be part of the Time for Monsters series…because it’s MMF. It’s what the members on my Patreon and I decided is best for Ellenore…and her bird twins. That’s right. Clutching Her Bird Twins’ Pearls will conclude the Pearl Clutchers trilogy on 7/7/2206. Didn't Kit Fox make a beautiful cover? Wait until I unveil the NSFW version on my Patreon...teehee.
I’m promising you with all my energy and being: 2026 is the year I finish all my open series – Pearl Clutchers, Chuchunya, and Hucows of Magmell. Why? I’m creating space for two new series that I’ve been talking about for more than two years. I’m cutting back on anthology and shared world projects just to accomplish this.
Speaking of anthologies and shared worlds, I have the official release date for Eight Maids A Milking: A Minotaur/Hubull anthology. On 1/1/26, you can ring in the New Year with buckets of…ahem…from minotaurs and hubulls in these short stories. If you loved Morning Glory Milking Farm, but wished it were hotter, you will love this. My story, Little Fae’s Riding Bull, is the next story in the Hucows of Magmell Trilogy.
See? With the release of Daisy’s book on 3/16/2026, that completes the trilogy. Lots of you have been asking for print copies of the Hucows of Magmell. The plan is to bind all three stories into one volume since they are so short. That’s my April project and why I won’t be releasing a book in April.
Book Fairs!
Now for the contest! Are you following your favorite authors on TikTok. or did that go to the briny deep when the pandemic ended? I must admit I let my TikTok account go when my health tanked, and keeping up with it was damaging my mental health. Now, I’m setting goals for 2026 and wondering if I should start weekly posting again. This would mean less time writing, but if it keeps you engaged, I loved making the videos. So what says you? For a free eBook of Escape to the Briny Deep (a hawt sentient octopus romance), do you still discover new books and authors on TikTok? Reply to this email and let me know. Two readers will win eBooks.
Book Recs!
Loved this book, I can't recommend it enough! It's like a monster romance prequel to Smoother Than Spumoni if you remember those Encantado pink dolphin shifters!
Thank you to everyone who came to see me (and pick up their Walk the Walk omnibus) at the Tis the Season book fair. If you live too far from LaGrange, you will have the opportunity to get your copy at Monster Brides Virtual Con on 1/17/26-1/18/26. I will also have Christmas Spy sprayed editions, Clutching Her Fishman’s Roe in paperback and hardback with line art inside, and pre-release copies of Frank’s Patient. So something sexy, something scary, and something sappy…sounds like the most unhinged bridal poem ever…no, that’s my next Monster Brides book coming in October.
Blessed Yule and Let Magic Find You,
Marilyn Barr
