Hey ,
Wow!
How did August manage to get away from me the way it did? Every month I promise to be more in the moment, and to accomplish more, of course, and then—poof—another month has passed me by.
As summer draws to a close, I am reminded of an article I read years ago, “Summer is St,ill in the Cards.” It is all about making the most of summer. Every summer I swear I will try what Mary Schmich recommends in the post, but I forget until right about this time of year, when I realize how much of the summer I squandered.
“Summer is St,ill in the Cards” is all about a great idea to keep summer from slipping through our fingers. Here’s what it says:
“In Chicago, where summer is not just a season but an annually recurring existential event, most of us think about summer every time it comes.
Summer after summer, we plan, we moan, we stare out our office windows, wondering why we're in here while summer is out there. We know that "summer" is an ancient synonym for "time passing."
This year, I bought a pack of index cards.
A pack of 100, cheap at CVS. I got rid of six, which left 94, one for each summer day.
On the first card, I wrote the date — Tuesday, June 21 — and the summer thing I did that day: Walked by the lake. Took a photo of a sunbather reading next to her bike with the skyline in the distance.”
Mary is right. Marking the passage of time matters. You know what? I love Autumn too. Index cards, here I come!
Sometimes I mark the passage of the day by noting my word count, the number of new words I added to a story, or edited, or proofread. Two thousand a day adds up, five thousand adds up much faster.
NANOWRIMO—National Novel Writing Month—encourages writers to commit to writing fifty thousand words in a month. This is not easy, trust me. I have made it to goal some years, missed by a mile in other years. But this November I am determined to make serious progress on the All’s Crazy in Love Series.
I understand what it’s like to be doled a romance series in dribs and drabs. I hate it, I am sure you do too. But twelve books is a mountain to climb for any writer. Four a year is even a huge hurdle, but one I am targeting. I have been holding the first few books in the series until I can publish at least four, for you hungry, and impatient, readers.
I am making progress too, but not as quickly as I had hoped to. Crazy to Wed, Gabriella’s story and the prequel for the series, is available. Dare to Believe, Sofia’s story is ready to go too., a revisit of Dare to Hope from last year. But, I am plowing through Avery and Willow’s tales at the speed of a sloth. Not for lack of trying, mind you.
What this means for you as readers? More waiting. Sorry. I promise to keep you up to date and get them out there as soon as I can, hopefully beginning this Autumn. Watch this space.
Here are some great promotions and plenty of romances to enjoy until I can release the Crazies.
Permission to Love is running now with almost 150 authors participating!!
And Billionaire Secrets ends this week, so don't miss it!
Coming September 1st:
Free Steamy Romance Reads and September is for Lovers with over 200 books available, many on Kindle Unlimited or free, so load up those eReaders for fall!
You already know I love my Stitchfix deliveries. Boxes of clothes selected specifically for me show up like Christmas in July. Well, this week it was Christmas in August and it was appropriately HOT, HOT, HOT.
I received my third Dangerous Romance Club box full of fabulously sexy reads. This box, like all boxes, contained two autographed paperbacks by USA Today Bestselling Authors along with matching bookmarks and so many other goodies. There were also links to more than 20 free eBooks!
I should mention, these novels aren’t for the timid. There is a reason it’s called Dangerous Romance. But these are dark, lurid tales told by some of the best authors in the business. This month included Pepper Winter’s Debt Inheritance, one of the best in the genre in my opinion.
What other goodies come in the box? I’ve gotten romance themed games, manicure kits, bookmarks, kitchen gadgets, stickers (one of my favorite was in this box and says “I dust my shelves but my books are filthy.”) and everything dark and steamy romance.
There is a subscription to receive these books. You don't have to commit, but they are available quarterly. Try one and see how you like it. Love it? Sign up for another. Intrigued? A handful of extra SUMMER boxes are available, so if you want an extra one for yourself or as a gift, you can grab that here: https://bit.ly/3yBbf8o
Want to think it over first? Take your time, do your homework, then sign up for one of the openings for Fall. Signup here: https://bit.ly/3fsGurT
And for the truly adventurous, you can always order a MYSTERY BOX as a gift for yourself if you want more dangerous romance to love: https://bit.ly/3E4xEfL
In the past I have focused on my writing process a great deal on the blog, but I am making a shift for September. Watch for posts about books. Find my recommendations of last-minute reads before summer’s over and my favorite indie authors and why I love them. Of course, I will still be posting “Meowy Madison’s” behind the scenes updates, interviews with guest authors and posts about my process. I just want to reach you readers where you live — reading. Watch for the first post next Tuesday.
Happy reading,
P.S. The entire Beguiling Bachelor Series is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. The set makes a read steamy romance lovers. Read them already? Won't you consider leaving a short review?
