I wouldn’t wish Covid on my worst enemy. It is over three weeks since I tested positive and I am still dragging my sorry ass and coughing. This despite being fully vaccinated and totally boosted. I can’t imagine how people who were really sick survived this—and I know far too many didn’t.

When in doubt, mask up everyone, because even a mild case of this crud can set you back.

Needless to say, there was no trip to Toronto. I’ll get there another time. But Michael and I salvaged the second half of the trip and discovered Stratford, Ontario and the Shakespeare Festival. The performances were magic, and the town could have been created on a Disney lot.

Never been there? Put it on your list. I can’t wait to go back.

Between Covid and Stratford, little writing was accomplished. No surprise, but still a disappointment. With National Novel Writer’s Month (NANOWRIMO.ORG) coming in November, I aim to make up for lost time. I have committed to 50,000 words in a month—AKA a complete first draft. Cassie is teed up for my project choice and I have started working on an outline of her story. She and Leah are almost neighbors and will overlap a bit, so it seemed like a good next Crazy to tackle.

Who’s Leah you might be wondering? If you’ve read Crazy to Wed, you know there is no Crazy Eight named Leah. In fact, Leah grew up with our Crazies, but moved to the neighborhood too late to be officially welcomed into the group. I call her a Crazy wannabe. I am really enjoying her story of long-distance romance and plan to share both of these books in late spring or summer, 2023.

With Miracles of Christmas and Countdown to Christmas, Hallmark is blanketing the airwaves with holiday romance. I highlight a few of my favorites from years past on this week’s blog.

I’m starting to think of Christmas (cause I ate all the Halloween candy last week while I was sick) and gift giving. I have a love/hate relationship with gift giving. I like to get it just right, but I hate asking people to tell me what to buy them. My family stops purchasing gifts once you graduate from college (with exceptions), but I have friends and colleagues whom I love to give holiday gifts.

What do you give the romance reader and writer in your life? What do you give the Hallmark junkie? How about that special friend that hosted you beautifully throughout the pandemic but never came to your house because she is allergic to cats? What do you give the women you love enough to write books about?

Since I am researching ideas for these people, I will be starting an Amazon page with some of my favorite gift ideas, or author must-haves, to help prime your gift idea pumps. I love Etsy as well, but Amazon is ubiquitous, so watch for a page there. I love when other authors do this. I will update it with great ideas as I find them and send the link as soon as it’s available. And don’t forget, black Friday is right around the corner!
