Would You Ask?

New Beholden Goes Public

Happening Now

Stuff I Love

Hey

Book ideas come to me a lot in my sleep, but sometimes they come to me when I am with friends, or family, and when they are the inspiration for a novel things can get sticky.

imageI have mentioned many times that the characters for Bedazzled came to me in a dream. Keeli came complete with her name. The remaining Beguiling Bachelors were figments of my imagination, created to give Wyatt people to speak with, so we would know what he was thinking.

Not so the Crazy Eights, the heroines of my All's Crazy in Love series. Each of these women was inspired by someone I know. Some stories I stole a plot point, like Avery who is based on a friend who really does walk to feed a feral cat twice a day. That is based on a real person, but Avery is a fictional character.

Or Sofia, inspired by a woman who desperately wanted a baby with her husband. Instead they divorced. At the same time, the wife of another friend who also wanted a baby left my friend. Suddenly thrown together, and attracted to one another, they made a baby together. Poof! If that's not romance novel material, what is?

So now comes my dilemma. Do I allow my friends to read the stories inspired by them before I publish them, or do I remind myself again that these are not real people, only fictional characters inspired by real people? And what happens if I ask and they want changes? Or I don't ask and they get mad?

What would you do? I'll let you know what I decided in a future newsletter!

So much happening!

For a limited time, in celebration of the release of the revised Beholden, I am reducing the price of Bewildered, Bedazzled and Beholden to only 99¢! You read that right! 99¢ each for only two short weeks.

Now is the time to snag a copy of the revised books, or tell you friends who may not have read the originals. Help me celebrate the release of Beholden by snapping a picture of yourself with the eBook cover and loading it on Instagram or Facebook! Get in on the action.

If I did a Beguiling Bachelor's party on Facebook live - perhaps a reading, and a giveaway, would you come?? It will all happen in April so be sure you are following all the latest as in my VIP Facebook Group.

Next, I wanted to share a link to today's blog post where I examine the source of my interest in writing billionaire romance. I think you'll enjoy it.

Two weeks of celebration will be followed by the release of the next Beguiling Bachelor novel, Bedeviled, so watch this space!

It seems like a small thing, but dinner with friends has become a wonderful pleasure for me, a renewed pleasure that I had learned to take for granted before the pandemic. Not anymore!

In the last few weeks I have been out every weekend with friends. The food tastes better shared, the conversation is undoubtedly more interesting with a few new people back in my life. Have you noticed that face to face conversations are more intimate and person than all those Zoom calls and phone calls you thought were adequate? They weren't, even if only because of that pesky 45 minute limit, or call waiting interruptions.

One topic of conversation has followed me out into the world—what TV shows and movies you can recommend, what to binge next. So here's what I am loving now...

Sanditon - on PBS, a period romance a la Jane Austen

The Courtship - on NBC, a new twist on the Bachelor concept

American Idol- the talent this year is outrageous, and so is Katy Perry!

I have already finished Bridgerton and I am watching for Peacock to bring us their version of Pitch Perfect and HBOs handling of The Time Traveler's Wife.

On the reading front, I just finished Bad Neighbor by Molly O'Keefe. This USA Today bestselling author has written a clever plot, a seriously bad bad boy and very very hot sex scenes.

When I need to cool down, I switch to the beautifully written The Giver of Stars by Jo Jo Moyes, a story of a sheltered English lady who marries a man she hardly knows. When. he relocates her to rural Kentucky, the WPA comes to her rescue, offering her a job delivering library books throughout the region.

Happy reading,

P.S. Yes I am still beggging for reviews! (my pride is long gone at this point!) Please take a quick moment to leave your honest review of Bedazzled. Good reviews can make or break the rest of the series launch. Really!
