Hi ,
Are you sensitive - i'm finding that many who care about inner peace are sensitive - sensitive to others, surroundings, themselves.
Sometimes being sensitive is relayed as a negative - have you heard this one?...
"Stop being so sensitive"
Sometimes when we take things personally yes we can become focussed too much on 'self' - well in this case usually our ego.
- our made up construct of who we think we are supposed to be. Maybe we've been offended and we've got our defenses up?
That can be a wealth of good info - it is really great to explore for ourselves as to what is really going on inside ourselves, who is it we think we are or need to be. Its often a construct developed years prior.
Another kind of sensitivity is to be in alignment with your soul and being sensitive to others and yourself, in a kind and compassionate way.
So different than the above. This sensitivity emanates from the truth of who you are versus who you think you need to be.
This is such a short bit on a big topic:)
And I must say it is totally worth the reflecting time - the learning about yourself can be deep and wide, even bits at a time.
This reflection brings the light to the darkness - really just our own unknown assumptions that we travel with and which often run our everyday actions from the subconscious everyday.
Today I wanted to share that being sensitive to your own inner being's needs is a great way to take care of yourself.
When you do this you have way more loving kindness and inner peace to share with others as you've already loved yourself.
An example might be you are needing to have an important conversation so to be kind to yourself you prepare - did you eat, get settled, take a few deep breaths, reflect on a kind and compassionate way to express, remind yourself to focus on listening, remembering you can always take a break ... 'i just need a few minutes', before we start to get too triggered and flip over to using the hind brain that cannot even access logical thought when big fear or threat is perceived.
This is being kind to yourself - preparing and loving yourself up.
When we take time to 'love ourselves up', not just for important conversations :)
We will develop a foundational well-spring of our own inner peace.
And coming back to this awareness ..
'How can I be sensitive to myself' and then taking some kind loving actions towards ourselves will add to our ability to be kind, sensitive and peaceful with others.
Just for today, how could you be sensitive to yourself and start this momentum for more inner peace in your life.
To be peaceful in your world starts with inner peace - we can only control ourselves - so lets do this!
Make a commitment to be more peaceful and loving to yourself as a practise and it will start to show up in your world.
And yes the first step is often to relax - softening, allowing ourselves to settle to really notice. Being speedy is so encouraged in our world and being peaceful often depends on being a little slower so we can notice and be sensitive to others and ourselves.
To practise relaxing why not join me on Thursday at 4:30 PDT to Somatic Stretch® class - this will give you that opportunity to slow down and relax and perhaps allow you to 'hear' your own inner stirrings.
Check out this link for more info about Somatic Stretch® and click here to register for our Thursday Class. The only prep is loose comfortable clothing and a couple blankets/pillows for props to increase support and relaxation. Some do it in a chair as these exercises can be adapted.
Gratitude for your interest in inner peace -
May you find new ways to 'love yourself up'
May peace be with you,
Wendy
