Hi ,
Always on the look out for tips and tricks for inner peace I wanted to share this with you as it working for me - tips for every day in every interaction and every situation.
First ... It's not Personal
We often think a persons reaction to us is personally aimed at us - but research says it really is about them, their learned patterns, what might be a 'wrong side of the bed day', their last interaction, stressful home situation - there is so much we don't know and a great assumption is to understand it is often about them not us. We can always learn more about the other by being curious and a good first step is to not take it personally. If we understand more we can often come to a place of compassion.
Second... Its not Permanent
This has been a big one for me and allows me to take a step back. We can usually manage a situation short term and even hold our tongue or excuse ourselves and take a minute if we are really upset.
Just know that nothing lasts - a great buddhist adage - dont cling to this present moment just 'be 'in it.
Third... Its not Perfect
Well this one is pretty self explanatory. we can cause ourselves a lot of grief and inner conflict with our own expectations. it is the reality versus our expectations that often cause the inner turmoil. Next time check out your own expectations about a situation that is not 'living up to' something. If we can adjust our expectations we can breathe easier and live with more inner peace.
Due to personal circumstances I wont be starting up Somatic Stretch classes until November - yes a lot of adjusting here and accepting the universe is not quite moving the way i want it to.
So for now I wish you a deep breath and the possibility of adjusting your mind set to allow what is.
I am not condoning all behaviour as their are clear personal, physical and emotional safety boundaries that must be respected and yet so much that causes our inner conflict is small every day things we can apply these principles to.
Its not Perfect,
Its not Personal
Its not Permanent.
May this be of benefit.
May peace be with you,
Wendy
