.
Hi ,
Do you notice where your attention goes?
- mine often seems to have 'a mind of its own':):)
They say our energy follows our attention - and if this is so there is a lot of aimless wandering going on:) How about you?
I've become much more attentive to my 'attention'
Now this could be attending to thoughts - wandering to the past or future.
(do you ever spend time re-hashing events, words said in your mind?)
Does this seem familiar?
We can gently nudge our attention to become more present in the moment.
The task, the people, or even the weather - bring your attention into the 'now' - maybe walking barefoot a few last times before the summer fades.
Or perhaps your attention is beautifully at rest, completely focused, on what is right in front you - perhaps your favourite hobby?
Or maybe you are focused on somatic, or body actions/sensations - some form of exercising?
Interestingly when we bring our attention to the present moment we are more at peace - it takes energy to be thinking about somewhere, sometime else than where you are.
Not to mention you are missing the moment you are in.
Stack this human habit up over a long time (ie our attention is not present to where we are) and one begins to wonder how much have we missed?
So I am being conscious of my attention - where it is.
Is it in the now with me and what I am involved with currently?
That's my aim these days.
I find it's a practise of noticing and nudging.
Where do I want my attention be - we have choices even in the present moment.
No judgement, just awareness.
It is only with awareness that we can make choices.
I am often full of thoughts and track them because really - my attention is my awareness, my awareness is my consciousness and really - that is me - my non-physical presence!
If you are present to conflict or tragedy - many hugs as there seems to be much chaos around.
I hope you can stay grounded and connected to your heart - feel your feet, feel your feelings and maybe take a time out - life can be intense. Notice your thoughts - maybe they are not with you but planning some scenario in the future. And maybe that's what is creating the blossoming negativity.
no judgement -
only notice and nudge, choosing where your attention goes;)
And most importantly may you be gentle with yourself;:)
