USE every millisecond of YOUR TIME

May 11, 2020 7:01 pm

Hello Team,

“Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.”

A very interesting and meaningful book that I have read a few months ago is called the “Time Keeper” by Mitch Albom. The book focuses on the importance that the man gives to time, and how this effects our day to day life.

Time is the most precious commodity in our lives and some of us don’t realise that. Similarly, others are constantly obsessed with the movement of the clock hands and with the feeling of running out of time.

We always crave more time as this keeps flying by, that sometimes we can feel breathless as if we’re running in an endless road that leads to a far too distant goal.

“I NEED MORE TIME” is what we often scream.

More time to revise for that important exam,

More time to spend with the people we love before it’s their time,

More time to spend in the sun before it rains again,

More time to catch the bus before it leaves us,

More time to finish that test or to score the last point in the game, and win

More time to laugh with friends,

More time to look in the eyes of your love,

More time to stare at the beautiful sunset,

More time to work on ourselves,

More time to explain your reasons and opinions,

More time…

We use decorated calendars and we plan for days the next weeks,

We set alarms and we keep checking the watch,

So why do we waste time when we have some?

Why don’t we appreciate it and make the most of every millisecond?

Why do we forget easily how bad we wanted that time?

Is it as they say: “We understand the importance of what we have when it's gone”?

The current situation of the world and the lockdowns imposed on us have given us the opportunity to enjoy that “LOTS OF TIME” we were craving for.

It has also taught us the importance of every small activity we used to fill our days with: meeting with a friend in the park, having a coffee at Starbucks, having a walk, playing sports, having a huge family dinner and so on.

Make use of all this time you’re getting bored of, learn a new skill, read those books you were always too busy to read, write that story you were always too distracted to work on, spend time with your children, start that website of the business you dreamt of for a long time…

Do not risk to regret misusing this precious time!

Take care :),
