Suit Establishment, Combinations, & Finessing with Graeme Tuffnell

Hi all,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the live play session this last week with India Leeming.

We'd love to invite you join us in this week's play session - one with a very different format, lead by Graeme Tuffnell - details below.

But first, a free video we recorded about playing in the dreaded 1NT contract:

♠♥♦♣

1NT hands can be so hard to play because, with the strength so balanced between the partnerships, it is often unclear which suits to develop and which to avoid.

Graeme joins us to help us practice the thinking that we need to exercise at each step.

Our first question: what can we learn from the opening lead? What does West's ♥7 tell us?

What we can guess about the heart distribution from the lead will help us decide what to play next.

Step by step, we can find our way through 1NT hands. Don't be scared to give away the lead - when it comes back to you, it might come back with interest.

Join the Play Session

Students who register will be able to play the hands created by Graeme at anytime. We all will sit south and play against the robots, leaving questions for Graeme.

In an included live lesson on Thursday, April 22, Graeme will guide us through all eight hands, responding to questions and comments left by the students. Can't join us live? Don't worry - a replay will be provided to all who register.

Your challenge on these hands is twofold. First, you’ll need to identify which suit to establish. That’s often going to be your longest suit but be careful because this is bridge!

Blindly following rules will end up getting you lost. Having decided which suit to establish you’ll need to work out the best way to attack. Some types of finesses aren’t that easy to spot.

Please note: this play session is already included for members of Graeme's weekly class.
