Starting next week: Sacrifice Bids in Bridge

with Adam Parrish

Four new live lessons with Adam about sacrifice bids in bridge. These will be hour-long interactive lessons that you can attend live in our virtual classroom or watch later via replay.

"Knowing when to sacrifice is one of the trickier decisions in bridge. It’s also essential to know what to bid after your opponents have sacrificed. This includes the infamous Forcing Pass. Sacrifice contracts can present unique problems to both declarer and defender. I think this is quite a difficult and interesting subject, and I haven’t seen a lot of lessons on it. I’m excited!"

  1. February 21 – When to sacrifice
  2. February 28 – When the opponents sacrifice
  3. March 7 – Playing a sacrifice
  4. March 14 – Defending a sacrifice

Lesson 4 – The Pseudo-Squeeze

Watch the video

We all know defense is tricky. We have experienced the pain of debating which of our two winners we need to discard and have all guessed wrong at some point! Even when the layout of the cards means that the defenders were not technically squeezed, they can still feel squeezed and guess wrong. This is called a Pseudo-Squeeze. Good technique will always put them under pressure and good things can happen.

After watching the video above, try playing all four hands for one of the boards below:
