Counting both the High Card Points & the Distribution - with Pam Livingston

Jan 07, 2022 6:55 am

Hi ,

I hope your new year is off to a nice start! I'm very happy to have Pam lead us through a very challenging hand. Can you see the smoke coming out of my ears? Keeping track of both the high card points and the distribution, we are given all the clues to visualise East's hand. Phew!!! Counting ain't easy!

From Pam:

This hand is a tricky defence where counting the high card points is one clue and counting the distribution is another. And, like watching a movie thriller, there is a twist at the end.

This is an expert defence but learning how to count points and distribution are great tools to develop to improve your game.

Speaking of counting, we hope you'll join us for four new lessons beginning next week:

Counting in Bridge with Pam Livingston

Four Lessons on Counting

Already included for members of Pam's class. A discount is available for members of all classes.

The ability to count to 13 goes a long way to defending a bridge hand! 13 cards in each suit as well as 10 high card points. Clues from the auction and the play, and a little help from partner, lead us to understand the hand better and to be able to make good decisions.

In this block of lessons, we will practise counting the high card points and also look at counting the distribution. We will learn when and how a count signal is given and how we can use that information.

These lessons are suitable for improver & intermediate level Standard and Acol players.

Wednesday mornings at 10am NZ time / Tuesday evenings in the USA, UK, & Europe

(View class time in your local timezone)

Can't join us live? A replay will be made available to all students.

All are welcome! Please reach out if you have any questions.
