How to bid a 5-5 hand after responder's 2NT & how to save hands in BBO

Hi bridge friends,

This week, Adam is joining us to answer two questions sent in by students. I am very grateful to both the students for sending these in and to Adam for taking the time.

♠♥♦♣

Adam saw a student struggle with this auction and thought we might all learn from it:

With only 10 HCP but a 5-5 shape, our hand meets the Rule of 20 so we can open the bidding with 1♠. Partner responds 1NT and then we bid 2♥ showing our heart suit.

What do we do after partner then bids 2NT?

With such a weak hand, we know we don't want to force partner to go to game, but we also don't want to leave us in 2NT. Do we have any options?

In our second video, Adam steps us through how we can input and save hands using BBO.

Typically we do videos about bridge questions, but with so many of us adapting to playing more online, we hope this will be helpful. What do you think? Let us know if more 'how to' videos would be helpful or if we should just stick to the bidding and card play.

Adam is such a wonderful teacher. The head of education at Bridge Winners and a regular columnist in the ACBL Bridge Bulletin, it's a true honor hosting his weekly class here at Learn Bridge Online.

For all the students in any of our classes, please keep sending in interesting hands and questions you have for the teachers! I'll keep doing my best to rope one of them in to help us out.

Your partner in learning,

Bajir
