We bridge folk are an eclectic bunch, aren't we? The joys of meeting new bridge friends (and teachers)

Hi, !

This week, while on a short walk around the neighborhood, I was struck with a special feeling of appreciation for how unique and eclectic we bridge learners, players, (and teachers) so often seem to be! It almost feels like at every bridge table, odds are there will be at least one real character, right? And if you don't see one sitting next to or across from you, guess what? It's probably you!

In the last few weeks, I had the joy of meeting (online) Leon Meier, a 20 year old wunderkind out of New Zealand who recently qualified to go to WBF Championships who started learning bridge only... wait for it... four years ago!!

I also was able to record a couple really fun first videos with Don Messer, a brilliant, and modest teacher based out of Austin, Texas, who has that kind of personality who makes you feel like old friends within five minutes of speaking with him.

Who are some of the favorite bridge characters you've encountered over the years? Leave a comment...

Let's keep making this game one that welcomes all types!

PS - As always, I always LOVE meeting new teachers. If there are any teachers at your local club you've really appreciated, I would be so grateful if you extended an invitation to them to come join us as a guest teacher for a video some time!

PPS - No new videos in this email, but here are a few I hope you might enjoy: a lesson about defensive principles taught by Curt in 2022 as well as our two most recent videos with Leon and Don in case you haven't watched them yet. Enjoy!
