Hi, bridge friends ~

Whether we are simply hoping to make our contract or to collect valuable overtricks, we always want to play each hand to the maximum (and, when possible, not put a guaranteed contract in jeopardy by trying for extra tricks). Sometimes we must do all of the work ourselves, but other times we can enlist the help of the defenders!

At key junctures of the play, we might be able to throw an opponent in - i.e. concede the lead - and that player will be left with multiple unattractive choices, all of which help you, the declarer.

We originally shared this video in 2022, before Curt started his weekly lesson here at LBO. Rewatching it, I'm reminded of all the reasons it was clear he'd be such a good fit with the LBO team!
