MPs vs. IMPs - what is the difference? with Adam Parrish

One of Adam’s students asked about the difference between MPs and IMPs scoring. Thanks for the question, Michael!
Adam explains how each type of scoring is calculated with examples. How does this affect our strategy?
With IMPs, it is important to make our contract as a direct comparison is made to another table. The big bonuses for game and slam cause big swings but one or two overtricks make little difference.
In contrast, with MPs every trick matters. If we make 10pts more than every other table, we’ll get 100%. However, 10pts less than everyone else is 0%! Usually, we will be somewhere in-between but every trick matters.
