Endplays are exciting to watch and to play. Whether we’re declarer figuring it out or the defender being screwed by the beautiful play, it’s always great to see.
We end in a slightly ambitious 3NT after perfectly reasonable bidding, but why did N overcall 2H with such weak heart quality? Our first hint at the layout! After SA led from N, a low spade continuation, and S’s SJ falling under our SQ we now know a huge amount about the layout and can tell an endplay is probably coming.
Pam talks us through how she used the bidding to influence her early choices in the play and how all the available information neatly showed the layout of the hand.
