Winning Strategies at Duplicate with Jack Stocken

Wherever you play, you'll notice some players who consistently do a bit better than everyone else in the results. What do these players know that is helping them excel so consistently?

When we play duplicate bridge, a better understanding of how our results will be compared to others' can give us clarity while bidding, and bring our game to the next level. We're excited to announce these new upcoming lessons available with membership to Jack's class at Learn Bridge Online.

For a limited time, try class membership with a free 1-week trial. Join us for the first of these lessons as well as two live weekly lessons & dozens of past lessons in the Lesson Library.

Part Score Bidding

presented live 4 September, 2023

Do no push for close game contracts. If partner plays well and makes the required overtricks that you would have made in game, then you will score well anyway.

Game Bidding

presented live 2 October, 2023

Prefer a 4 – 4 major suit fit to 3NT as most of the time you will get an extra trick. Avoid 5 of a minor and we will also look at the benefits of a 6 – 2 and 5 – 3 major suit fit over 3NT

Slam Bidding

presented live 6 November, 2023

Do not push for close slams at pairs and if you believe you have a slam, blast it. If you think the field won’t bid the slam, bid the safest slam and if you think the field will bid the slam, then bid the higher scoring slam

Doubling and Saving

presented live 4 December, 2023

Make a penalty double more freely at pairs and leave in partner’s penalty double more often. Also, double conventional bids at pairs for the lead and don’t make sacrifice bids
