The DSIP (Do Something Intelligent Partner!) Double - with Curt Soloff
Jan 28, 2025 4:01 pm
Hi ,
As discussed in the most recent class installment of 'Elevate Your Bridge', the cooperative double - also commonly referred to as a 'DSIP' or 'card-showing' double is one that you make in a competitive auction in which your side holds the balance of power.
Should you bid on or should you pass partner's double, converting it to penalty? Sometimes partner is best placed to make that decision.
Thus, you make the double to say, "Partner, this is our hand, but I'm not sure if we should bid on or defend." The double is takeout-oriented, but also indicates some willingness to defend.
