Hi, !

I hope your new year is off to a flying start!

We are very lucky to have guest teacher Bridget Rampton with us for this week's video (and who is teaching our Thursday class this month!). Please join me in welcoming her in the comments: https://youtu.be/GFbh2XhNs_U

If you partner opens, and your right hand opponent overcalls in the suit you would have liked to have bid, think strongly about passing. You can't double because double would mean takeout. Passing is often your best action. If you pass your partner should re-open with a double if they have a shortage in that overcalled suit.

When they reopen with a double you can pass and catch the opponents out. Happy days! When you are in the overcalling seat remember that good opponents might do this to you. Don't overcall at the 2 level especially unless you have something really quite decent.
