Fundraiser for Cancer Research, open house for members, and update about my new trick-taking game...

Hi ,

I hope you're doing well in these last days of Summer. Here in Japan we've been watching the slow approach of Typhoon Shanshan; it seems we'll be spared the worst of it, but will still be stuck inside for a couple windy and rainy days. I wanted to share news about a few fun things coming up...

Members invited to all lessons this week

This week, members will be invited to attend all of the lessons taught by other teachers. We've been doing this more and more. It is so fun to see the cross-pollination that occurs when members visit the other classes.

If you're ready to take your bridge to the next level with our world renowned teachers (and make a bunch of bridge friends while you're at it), now's a great time to try a free trial week and sample all of our different classes!

We would love to invite you and your bridge friends to join us for a special lesson with Jack Stocken to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

It is free to attend but we will ask those who can afford it to make a £5 ~ £10 contribution directly to Cancer Research UK.

Presented live Monday, 9 September at 9:30am, UK time. Watch live or via recorded replay.

Please invite your friends to join us as well!

“I will discuss many different bidding sequences and the students will be asked which bids are game forcing and which are non-forcing, so plenty of scope for interaction. We will also look at bids that are forcing for just one round.”

A new trick-taking game...

Lastly, I wanted to share bridge-adjacent news on the personal front: I've received my first test print of my new trick-taking game and am so happy with how it's looking!

Trickarus is a trick-taking game of flying, flipping, and trying not to soar into the hot, hot sun. Bridge players will find themselves well versed in the need to strategize when to play your winning cards and when to save them.

My goal was to make an accessible and fun game that could be played with both kids and folks unfamiliar with trick-taking. Trickarus has both competitive and cooperative modes, and enough depth for those of us already well-versed in trick-taking.

I'll be bringing the game to two Game Market events here in Japan this Autumn and hope to have some sort of crowdfunding campaign in the new year for North America and Europe.

I ended the included game instructions with an invitation to try learning bridge... Fingers crossed!
