The Journey to Florida: A Personal Update and Final D.C. Art Sale

You must follow your journey.

That is the advice our neighbor gave us when she found out we are selling our home and moving to Florida. My wife was recently offered a job as a college counselor in the Winter Park area.

This move has been in the works for over two years.

We first made the decision during a long drive to North Carolina after my mother passed away. We were heading there for her funeral, and in the quiet of reflection, I turned to my wife and said we should move to Florida in the summer of 2025 to be closer to family.

Our eldest daughter inspired that decision at the time—I wanted her to grow up near her grandparents. Since then, our second daughter has been born, strengthening our commitment to this journey.

It's incredible what can happen when you stay focused—when you set goals and break them down into milestones or actionable steps. In order to create the outcomes we want, we’ve had to ask: What inputs are needed? What actions must we take?

Without going into too many details, we’ve hit some milestones and missed others. But overall, we’re moving in the right direction.

Right now, I’m still working on two milestones. First, I’m looking for work and building connections in the Orlando/Winter Park area, particularly with businesses that may need a business advisor or CMO/COO.

Second, I have several paintings—some inspired by D.C. stories—that I would love to see stay here, in the city that shaped them. I’ll be posting images and prices at the bottom of this newsletter. If any of these pieces speaks to you, reach out. Prices are negotiable—we aim to move by July, and I’d rather not take them all with me.
