MESSAGE FROM THE CEO
Dear Friends,
Before I talk about this email's main topic, I want to thank all of the individuals who requested information and signed up to go on the cultural and business exploratory mission trip to Cuba in May. I am currently working with Margaret Pullés Machado, Founder & CEO of VamosGlobal and former CEO of the U.S.-Cuba Chamber of Commerce, to make this trip happen. We are also now opening up a second exploratory mission for July of this year. For more information, please email me at juan@torricomedia.com.
In the last few weeks, the art world has been turned upside-down when Christie's auction house auctioned its first NFT (Non-Fungible Token), "Everydays: The First 5,000 Days" by Beeple for $69 million. Even though I think the price for Beeple's work is outrageous, I do believe that NFTs will be a game-changer for the digital art community
After researching the platform for several weeks and following several NFT influencers, I am happy to announce my first NFT digital artwork launch. I wanted to sell my photographs as fine art to collectors for years, I have over 30,000 images I have taken since 2012, but there was no way to authenticate the original digital prints. So I held off publishing most of them. From time to time, I shared a few on Facebook or Instagram, but that's not the case anymore. Platforms such as Rarible, Opensea, and Markersplace provide digital artists the ability to certify their work and sell it to collectors.
The first image I decided to put up for sale on Rarible is called Geno's No.06. I took this photo in July of 2016 when I visited Philadelphia's famous cheesesteak restaurant Geno's Steaks with my now fiancée, Mary Ann. Why No.06? It was the 6th photo on the memory card that I labeled during my trip to Philly.
Since April 4th, I also decided to participate in the one-artwork-a-day challenge. Some of the artwork posted on Instagram will be new images taken and edited the day before. While at times, I will also post art pieces I have stored in my photo library and are several years old.
Below is the winner of this week's challenge. I call it Spanish Moss. My goal is to have this art piece minted by the weekend. Why the weekend? "Gas" or the fee to mint an NFT cost more during the week.
To see my artwork on Instagram, follow me at @torricoimages.
All art pieces can be purchased using Ethereum cryptocurrency. If you don't have a crypto wallet, you can download Coinbase here.
*Side note, all final images will not have the cryptocurrency watermark.
About Gene's No.06:
The JPG image is 13 MB big with 4912 × 3264 resolution. It can be printed on canvas as well as in other formats. The token was minted on March 31st, 2021.
For more information about Geno's No.06 or purchase the art piece using Ethereum, visit my storefront on Rarible.
Respectfully,
Juan
