From My Heart to Yours: Art, Story, and an Invitation

Dear friends,

In the midst of preparing for a big family move, I've been doing a lot of reflecting, not just on logistics, but on purpose. I keep asking myself: How am I serving others with what I create? Am I giving enough? Am I making a difference?

The truth is, I've spent the past few years searching, not just for an artistic voice, but for language. How do I describe this work?. And how to share it in a way that offers something of value.

Here's what I've come to: my work lives at the intersection of capturing moments through color, emotion, and music. I call it Cultural Surrealism—a blend of street and documentary photography, digitally reimagined, that captures decisive moments filled with raw emotion. Each piece tells a story. It's not just about what was seen, but what was felt. These works are for anyone who's ever tried to hold on to a moment, a memory, or a piece of themselves in a chaotic world.

If that speaks to you, I want to offer something:

I've created two limited edition art posters—25 of each. Signed, numbered, and available for $100 each. These are more than prints. They're stories, emotions, and moments that I want to share with others who see beauty in the in-between spaces.

If you're in the D.C. area, I'll hand-deliver.

You can Venmo me at @juantorico or email me directly to reserve yours.

If you're not ready to buy art, that's okay too. Just being here and reading this means a lot. And if you feel moved to share this with someone who is in the market for something meaningful to add to their collection or someone who believes in supporting Latino artists, please pass this along.

The truth is, things have been tough lately. Our car was broken into, and although insurance is covering part of the cost, there are still unexpected expenses. My contract here in D.C. has ended, and I'm still waiting for my next media opportunity to materialize. So every bit from these posters and artwork sales goes directly toward helping my family make this transition—with dignity, with gratitude, and with a continued sense of purpose.

But more than just a fundraiser, this is me saying: This is what I make, this is what I believe in, and this is what I have to offer the world.

Thank you for being part of that world.

With gratitude,

Juan
