October Update
Oct 07, 2024 9:32 pm
Hey y'all,
Happy October! I think we're finally in Real Fall now instead of False Fall. What do you think? My morning walks with my mother are happening slightly later (we don't walk in the dark) and they're a little cooler, but I like it. I won't complain about the few extra minutes of sleep I'm getting. 😉
I had the unfortunate experience of having my Macbook die on me. So, I've spent the past two weeks trying to get oriented to a new one. I had cloud back up, but I did lose some things. I'm sifting through what I have and don't have and plodding my way forward.
What's going on?
I attended my final book event of the year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I met some great readers and made some new author friends. I had a great time reconnecting with author friends I met before I published my first book. We celebrated being together again. Thanks to the lovely S.K. Lessly, I was able to snag some souvenirs for the Steeler's fans in my life. I do believe I need to visit the city again when I have time to stay longer.
Below are a few pics from my adventure.
One of the items on my table that I tried for the first time was a Blind Date with a Book Box raffle. It is an excellent representation of the book boxes the Diva level Patreon subscribers receive each quarter. They aren't aware of the book in the box until it reaches them. But, it's always a special edition hardback with a jacketed cover. There are also various swag along with a customized, bookish item. In this set it was an embroidered BookLife book/E-reader sleeve. The book box was well received, and one lucky reader took it home with her. So, I think this is an event winner for me that I'll have at future events (contingent on the guidelines from the event coordinators).
Writing update
The Rancher's Home is complete and ready to proof. So, I'll be sending out ARCs soon. Normally, I reach out to readers personally to offer them Advance Review Copies. This time, I'm doing things a little differently. I'm linking a sign up form below. If you're interested in receiving an ARC, please fill it out. Spaces are limited. Based on how it works out, I may use this method going forward.
To learn more about the other books in the series, visit the Silver Creek Ranch Website and Sign up for the Newsletter!
While I've been hard at work on the latest installment of the Draft Pick Series on Kindle Vella, I've also been working through additional edits for Season III of Draft Pick - Denzel and Dominique's story. It's currently with the editor. If things go according to plan, it will be released before the end of the year. 🤞🏽
If you want to enjoy each story as I write and get a copy on release day, join my Patreon. All levels have access to my current works in progress (under my Darie McCoy pen name) and they receive the completed ebook on or before release day. Decadents and Divas receive a signed paperback with each new release, in addition to the ebook.

What's next?
I believe I'm finally in the right head space to start back working on Nikki and Ash's story. It's been a year since I last tried it, but I couldn't move forward with it at the time. It felt like I was forcing it. I never want to do that to the characters or to readers. My goal is to tell the story as honestly as possible and to give you the best reading experience possible. So, I'll start reading over what I've already written and get into it soon. I did lose some of it when my Mac died, but I don't have to completely start from scratch.
That's all for now.
Thank you for rocking with me!
Until next time, happy reading! Keep scrolling below for some awesome book recommendations, new and upcoming releases.
