Focus group: Covers, take 2 (The White Deer of Kildare)

Thank you for your feedback, !
The early cover survey results were so clear that I knew we needed to make some adjustments, especially for "The Horned Women." My designer and I spent a couple hours saying "I have no idea what else we're going to do with it. Everything else was worse."
Then we had a Zoom session, with another person about a totally different project the three of us are working on, and had some ideas. Do you ever find that happens — when you stop trying to address a problem from the front, the answer slips into your mind from the corner?
We think maybe, possibly, this works. But we won't know until it's out of our heads (and computers) and into the world, so what do YOU think?
To share your ideas...
- If you haven't done either of the cover surveys, you can skip the first one and go directly to the Cover Survey Take 2.
- If you have answered the first cover survey, I appreciate it soooo much, and it would really help if you do this one too! Then changes on "The White Deer of Kildare" were subtle, and you can skip any questions in that section that you feel like you already answered — or just answer them because the subtle changes might be important.
- If you haven't had a chance to do the first survey, you can find it here. Your answers are really helpful, because I'm comparing them to the cover answers to make sure that the cover implies the reading experience that exists.
And just to add a smile to your morning...
Here is my helper, Inish, who has been smooshed up right next to me the entire time I've written this survey and newsletter. (I'm not in the picture because I got up to make tea.) And then I added one of him awake, too. He got to see the Space Needle this weekend, while we were in Seattle Center for my son's ballet auditions.
And here's a free link to The Horned Women...
I appreciate you being here with me and don't expect anything else from you. But some of you have mentioned you're curious about my other story, and when it's free in one place I don't want to make you guys pay for it. So if you want to get a free copy, it's available in this promotion this month.
Full disclosure: it comes with a signup to my main newsletter, and I haven't had a chance to read the other books in the promo. You are free to share this link; it isn't private to this group.
Thank you so much! Stay safe out there 🏳️🌈
Best wishes,
Christy
