Issue # 17 \\ Never let a good crisis go to waste

Oct 13, 2020 12:26 am

Hey Friends,

As Winston Churchill was working to form the United Nations after WWII, he famously said, 'Never let a good crisis go to waste'.

This famous quote was made during the bleakest days of World War II, but is often used to provide hope during difficult times. Indeed, as we grapple with the 'new normal' of self-isolation, social distancing and work form home, many have used these unprecedented circumstances to reflect upon Churchill's simple but profound sentiment:

Dramatic change inevitably uncovers fresh insight, and points to opportunities for growth.

For many, the crisis has forced us to use our devices for the purpose they were presumably intended: to connect us in meaningful ways to other human beings. To gather for virtual get-togethers, quiz nights, and dinner parties. To share videos of encouragement with one another and to even use our phone to talk someone! Yes Gen Z that is a thing!

But, while we have all worked hard to stay positive, reflect in times of crisis, and honour the contributions made by people such as Marcus Rashford and Joe Wicks, hackers have also been careful not to let the crisis go to waste either!

The tactic is quite simple. While everyone is distracted and has let their guards down, hit them with emails and messages containing hidden malware, and wait for them to take the bait.

What better way to get people to click a link than to share information about the equally loved/hated figure that is Donald Trump. So I share a few links of the current threats doing the rounds, loaded with the likes of BazarLoader, Emotet malware, and implore you to consider the quote below, and to stay vigilant and be safe.

#beblessed

Chris
