Okay, hear me out...

Heyo !
Boy, after Switch was released, did people ever have feelings about Fallon's brother:
"I despise Wes."
"...except for Wes. We hate him."
"What Wes says to Fallon is so insensitive and hurtful..." (and that one was from my editor, y'all)
Well, about that... Maybe it's just me, but I absolutely love it when a writer can get me to change my mind about a character I thought was completely awful. I remember when I discovered the show Oz, long after it had originally aired. It's a prison drama, and as you might except there is some UGLY stuff in it. Ugly characters who do ugly things to one another. And I remember being completely captivated by the way the writers made me feel sympathy and even sometimes root for characters I'd started out wanting to personally smother with a pillow.
Does it always work? No. Does it work in Dubious? I hope so. 😁 You'll have to let me know.
As cliché as it might sound, sometimes the characters in my head really do feel like they're the ones taking charge of their story. Which comes with some delightful surprises, including Adam and Troy letting me know that Wes - awful, insecure, set his brother up on a blind date with a male escort because he can't stop meddling Wes - was going to be theirs. Fiercely, adamantly theirs. And boy, were they delighted to teach this much older man a few things. I was honestly so excited by the challenge, and I'm really (definitely biased) thrilled with how their story unfolded.
If you've read Guardian, you already have some idea of what's coming. In case you haven't, here's a teaser for you from Wes's point of view:
And here's another (Troy's POV):
--
Big surprise, Wes doesn’t look at all comforted. He keeps looking around as if he’s done something illegal and he’s afraid of getting caught. Still wondering how we got here? Worried about seeing someone he knows?
Truth be told, I’m waiting for it. Just let one of his employees or a member of his church congregation walk by. I won’t shove my tongue down his throat right in front of them, but I’m not above dragging him into a shadowy corner so he can marinate in shame while I make him hard.
Wait. “Do you go to church, Kitten?”

I should mention that Dubious, in case you can't guess from the name, is probably the darkest book of the series. There's on page kidnapping, and there are situations where the characters have some agency, but not a whole lot (hence the title, Dubious). There's some CNC. Adam threatens to murder Troy if he leaves him more than once, and means it. You can find a full list of triggers on my web site, but those are the biggies, I think.
If you'd like a change to dive into Dubious early, you can find that on my brand new (18+) Patreon. The first six chapters and the prologue are up there now. I'll be releasing a few chapters a week at what is currently the only tier, leading up to the official launch. There's also a bonus short story that features a partner swap between Ravi, Liam, Fallon, and PJ, if that's your jam. You can find all of that right here.
And if subscriptions give you an itchy rash and you want to do a regular old pre-order? That'll work the same as usual, and I'll love you forever. Dubious goes live at the major retailers on May 5, and you can pre-order here.
Thanks for coming on this ride with me, everyone. Sending you my most heartfelt gratitude and wishing you all the happy endings!
XO,
Beth
