More than 25,000 books are on the way into the hands of underserved residents across New York City and Long Island.
They’ll be distributed across the boroughs by Book Fairies a nonprofit that since 2012 has donated 6 million books to Title I schools, educators, and community partners.
The donations come via the world’s largest online retailer of used books, ThriftBooks, which teamed up with the Book Fairies which hosts large-scale distribution events where community leaders and educators can go and get books that might otherwise be beyond budget.

The Power of Willingness and Self-Liberation
I have found that my human ability to cultivate Willingness determines — and has determined — my own “self-liberation,” so to speak. This requires a pre-determined commitment to Willingness. It is an act of radical self-love, radical self-acceptance, and radical willingness to be real — to go into the raw — and, above all, to navigate ourselves in a natural frequency (aligning with our inherent, life-supporting way of being).
We can each only truly hold ourselves accountable, as only we ourselves can “check in” with ourselves to see whether we are navigating in an unnatural frequency. Because we intrinsically all know what is natural, we can — with Willingness — discover again and again whether we are hiding, avoiding, pretending, lying, projecting, or still protecting ourselves instead of being real with what is truly going on in our thoughts. Every human knows when they are acting out of integrity if they check in with themselves. The question, especially in community, is whether we really want to keep doing it this way — as it is coping and not resolving anything in the long run.
Most people have never been related with in a safe space to remember that it is a choice to be reacting, projecting, and blaming. That we can explore these narratives. That there is a gift — an opportunity — for properly processing these reactive feelings that are coming up. And so it is simply a choice to keep doing “it like this” or to discover where “this” truly comes from within us.
Neurochemical Associative Memory and Primary Imprints
Neurochemical associative memory (the brain’s tendency to link present situations with unresolved emotional experiences from the past) is another ally aspect of our Human Nature. If we are willing to access it, it reveals what is truly going on: external reality is triggering unresolved emotional imprinting from our past lived experiences.
This is all linked to what I call the Primary He and Primary She (the original male and female figures or imprints where our early feelings were harmed). It always pertains to the Primary Imprint — the foundational moments when our feelings were not met with love, acceptance, or presence.
When we remember how we would naturally navigate with younglings experiencing intense emotional experiences — with compassion, acceptance, care, receiving, and welcoming — we sense again how far our current societal framework has moved away from this. Society continues to shush, diminish, avoid, silence, or want to “fix” these scenarios. Yet they are fully part of what it means to be a Human Being — a feeling-based creature.
