A group of us were discussing our super powers. When asked, Carol stated, "I don't know my super powers but I have written a poem." Being a Writer & a Watcher is just two of Carol's incredible super powers.
THE "WATCHERS" by: Carol Swanson
I am in a small group called the watchers -- the waiters -- the ones who wait in the wings and absorb every detail about the room and its inhabitants.
We wait for the Sun to set and for the dawn to rise to a new day.
We watch for the buds to open and for the flowers to bloom, but we also watch when the flowers die and wither away.
Yes, we watch for the children to come out and play, but we also watch for the end of the day when everything becomes darkened and quiet and the night envelopes us in sleep.
Yes, I'm waiting and watching and silently hoping for the day when all awaken from their sleep and march into Heaven with no cares or burdens and sing with the angels about our newfound hope and freedom from the earthly burdens and cares, but dances instead in the sunlight of a new day -- a new dawn.
I'm waiting...
