Will a water meter save you money?

If you're trying to reduce your bills, it's worth looking at whether switching to a water meter will cut your costs. In this article I've shared how to do it and how to work out what your savings might be, as well as revealing whether it was a good or bad idea for me. Plus there are some tips to help you reduce water usage (and cut bills even more).

Halifax Reward account review: Is it any good?

Though digital-only banks are often a cut above the rest, the traditional banks aren't all bad. Since there's now a £125 switching offer, I thought it was a good time to look at the Halifax Reward account.

My review includes what you can do with the app and some tricks to get the monthly reward (either £5 or a cinema ticket) without actually spending money.

Regular savings accounts: Are they worth it?

With interest rates gradually improving, there are now five regular savings accounts paying more than 2% (going up to 3.3%). Here's how they work, and whether they're worth using to stash your cash. Plus the best paying options right now.

National Insurance: Will you pay more or less tax in 2022?

When you get this month's pay, you'll see you're paying more in National Insurance contributions. But from July, there's a good chance you'll see you're paying less! Effectively there's been both a tax rise and tax cut within a few months of each other - it's all very confusing. Hopefully this article will make things clearer.

THIS WEEK'S TOP DEALS

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.

I'll also share a quick update on Instagram on Saturday morning.

1. Nectar: Big Points Swap

This is the first boosted Nectar offer I've seen since the Double Up promotion ended - and it could be worth up to £25 extra. Here's more.

2. Disney+: 6 months for £8

If you have any Tesco Clubcard points laying around this is an incredible saving on Disney+ streaming. You're saving £40 over the six months versus paying full price. Here's more.

3. Trains: Great British Rail Sale

This sale launched on Tuesday with 1 million tickets reduced across the whole country for travel in April and May. I've picked up some £15 tickets to London (though there weren't any for the way back) so it's well worth a look. Here's more.

4. Spotify: 3 months for £9.99

If you cancelled a Spotify Premium subscription prior to 12 March this year then you should be able to renew it at three months for the price of one. More here.

5. Monese: 5% off supermarket gift cards

This monthly offer for Monese account holders is back - though at a much-reduced rate (it used to be 20% off). Still if you shop at one of the participating supermarkets (and can't save more than 5% elsewhere) it's worth taking advantage of. Here's more.

6. Chocolate: 50% off Hotel Chocolat and Lindt

Though most supermarkets have cleared their Easter chocolate (at least where I've looked), you can still get reductions at Hotel Chocolat and Lindt. More here.
