BLOG: Furlough replaced
So we now know what will replace the furlough scheme at the end of October. The new Job Support Scheme will continue to give some workers a wage subsidy, but only for "viable jobs", and there's a much higher contribution from employers. Here's more on this and other measures announced today by Rishi Sunak.
BLOG: TSB axes Classic Plus account and cuts 1.5% interest to 0%
There were two blows this week to savings rates. On Monday NS&I announced rates will drop in late November, then yesterday TSB closed its Classic Plus account to new customers and said it'll also cut rates for existing customers to 0% in December.
If you have this account, I've taken a look at it's replacement - the TSB Spend & Save account - and your options for moving your banking and savings.
BLOG: New 3% savings account from Natwest – is it worth it?
With rates falling elsewhere, news of an account offering 3% was a big surprise. But it won't be suitable for most as there's a £50 monthly limit. Here's more on how it works.
PODCAST: Cash Chats #142: The hidden harm of your bank and pension
This week on the podcast I've looked at how ethical your bank and investments are. If you're someone who wants their money to help rather than hinder issues such as the environment, human rights and more then moving your cash can have a huge impact.
You can listen via all the normal podcasting routes or over on the blog.

The top deals this week
I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.
Plus, it's worth following me on Instagram where I post any extra deals which come too late for the newsletter, including a" deals of the week" video update on Friday.
1. SpaceNK £15 off each £60 spent
If you need to stack up on beauty products and posh candles this is a decent deal that'll save you up to 25% - you just need to get as close as you can or just over multiples of £60.
2. You can now earn Nectar points at Argos
If you have any shopping to do at Argos then make sure you connect your Nectar card as you'll now get a point per pound - though that's doubled until 28th September. Here's more info in my guide to the best ways to collect and spend Nectar points.
3. 20% Boots student discount
The normal 10% discount at Boots is boosted to 20% until the end of today. Great if you're a student, or if you're a long time reader who took advantage of the NUS / Totum card loophole before it closed.
4. Free Football Manager / Rollercoaster Tycoon games
If you have a PC or Mac you can get a free copy of Football Manager 2020 until 4pm today (Thursday). It's then replaced by Rollercoaster Tycoon for PC only.
5. New 1.3% one-year fixed savings account
I don't want to bombard you with too much savings account news, but with all the changes to rates this week you might want to check out a new fix from Tandem, offering 1.3% interest.
