My top articles this week

1. Cash hack: Get “work perk” discounts and a cash bonus

Some of you might be lucky enough to get discounts at shops, restaurants and cinemas via your work, or maybe a membership with something like Bupa. For the rest of you, I've found a way to get access to one of these "work perk" schemes for free. You'll get savings like 3% off at John Lewis and 27% off an Odeon Limitless pass. There's also an added bonus of cashback between £40 and £300 when you sign up!

2. American Express welcome bonus – what the rule changes mean

Sad news for those of you who liked to get an Amex bonus every year - the rules have changed and you can't get a welcome bonus (easily worth £100 each time) if you've had any American Express card with cashback or rewards in two years. I've taken a look at whether waiting is worth it, and a little trick to reduce the wait - if you're in a relationship.

3. Do supermarket cashback apps really save you money?

Forget couponing, there are a handful of apps you can download to your phone to give you cashback on supermarket purchases. But are the savings big enough to warrant the faff? I've rated each of the main apps including Shopmium and CheckoutSmart so you know the pros and cons. Plus, scroll down a bit and you'll see a deal to get you a free box of chocs from one of these apps this weekend.

The top deals this week

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value - and here they are for you too. First some newbies in a bit more detail, then some you might have missed from previous weeks. Click the red titles or blue links for more information.

1. Boots Advantage points event - get £10 back when you spend £50

Today and Friday you can get a ton of Boots points when you spend £50 in-store (it's £60 online). Rather than the normal 4% back, you'll get £10, and that's for every £50 you spend. So stock up on perfume, toothpaste, tablets and more. And don't forget this counts on beauty tech like electric toothbrushes and those posh Dyson hair dryers.

2. Echo Dot/Fire Stick bundle for £49.99

If you're after both an Amazon Echo Dot speaker and an Amazon Fire TV Stick this is a very good deal. You save £39.99, which is essentially a free Fire stick with the speaker.

3. Free box of chocolates

The TopCashback app is giving you £3 back when you buy any box of chocs over £3. Be quick if you want to get this.

4. Beat the NOW TV Sky Cinema Pass price increase

On Monday the NOW TV cinema pass will jump up from £9.99 to £11.99 a month. Of course, you shouldn't be paying this much as there are loads of deals to reduce the monthly cost - but it's likely some of those will also increase. So it might be worth stocking up on a few of the cut-price deals.

In other NOW TV news, you can now link your account to six devices (though only two can be used at the same time).

5. Craft beer sale and discounts

I've spotted a couple of decent deals if you're a craft beer fan. First Groupon is selling vouchers to use at Beer52 to either get 18 beers for £22.95 or save £10 on a £20 spend in its shop.

And Honest Brew has a sale on beers from top breweries such as Magic Rock and Northern Monk (there's also a code for £10 off your first purchase).

6. LAST CHANCE - £150 HSBC bank switch offer ends Monday

Another big bank switching deal is ending. It might be back, but if you're a serial switcher, you may as well nab it now just in case.

7. Best Mother’s Day flower deals

It's your last chance to order flowers for delivery before this Sunday. Here are some of the best discount codes to bring down the cost of a bouquet for your mum.

8. 10% off loads at eBay

Until midnight tonight (Thursday) you can save 10% at 88 different eBay shops, including tech at Crampton and Moore and clothes at Superdry.
