Getting to know me!
G'day, I'm Ami, if you've just joined my newsletter list, welcome! If you've been here for a while, maybe you already know some of these things, or maybe not!
First book I ever wrote: Rescued by the Interstellar Agent
First published in: Sep 2021
First book I remember loving: Possum Magic
Hobbies: cooking, wine club, nerding out on history documentaries
Authors that make me fangirl: Ruby Dixon, VK Ludwig, Kathryn Moon, CM Nascosta, Loretta Chase, Lisa Kleypas
Favourite read of 2024 so far: Stiff by Thea Mason (you gotta trust me on this, it's delightful!)
Favourite read ever: so hard to choose. Depends on my mood a bit. I absolutely adore Heat by R Lee Smith and Saved by VK Ludwig, but those are both quite heavy. When I want something fun and lighthearted I usually go for one of Ruby's Corsairs
While we're getting to know each other, I would LOVE to find out about you. Go on, hit reply and tell me yours.
Everyone who replies will go in the draw to win a free ebook!

Here's a little taste:
With a sigh, Errytt swiped to accept the call and was confronted with the sour expression and long nose of a haughty-looking human. The human’s green eyes went wide as he answered and her mouth flapped open with a choked sound, but no words came out for several seconds. Finally, she blurted, “Lord Thruur! There must be some terrible mistake. I’m afraid this young woman has somehow fraudulently accessed your funds and could have been stealing marks.”
Errytt frowned. “What?”
“It’s okay, sir. I’m sure we can clear this all up. I’m surprised this ID is actually yours, but you never know the audacity of some people. This young woman claims you gave her access to your funds, but that can’t be right.”
She turned the cam. Errytt saw a pale and nervous-looking Cassie in the background. She sat with her hands bound in her lap and a boxy security bot hovered in front of her with its shock stick activated.
“What the fuck is the meaning of this? Where are you calling from?”
“Charme Couture, sir. I’m sorry to disturb you, sir. I’ll have security confiscate her wrist-com, and we’ll wipe your ID and access to your account. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of—”
“You most certainly will not!” He was drawing looks from people around him in the crowded space port, but Errytt ignored them. His gaze focused on Cassie, who looked strained but not hurt. By the nine lords, if they had shocked her, heads would roll!
“Release her immediately. I’m coming down there, and if anyone so much as lays another hand or weapon on that woman before I get there, then so help me you will regret it.”
The woman flinched. “But does that mean—”
“It means that you’ve made a big fucking mistake, and you’d better spend however long it takes me to get there apologizing and hoping she forgives you, because if she hasn’t by the time I arrive, you’ll be out of a job.”
***
When he walked through the door of Charme Couture, he found Cassie sitting on a plush sofa with a glass of something pink and bubbly in her hand, looking flushed and awkward, but she was no longer tied up and most definitely not hurt. Several muscles in his neck loosened, and he let out a long breath.
Cassie looked over at him, her cheeks flushing a deeper pink. “I’m really sorry for the bother, Errytt. I told her not to call you, but she wouldn’t believe me.”
He scowled at the shop attendant who had scurried over. “Not your fault, Cassie. It’s this woman who should apologize. Has she begged for your forgiveness enough times yet?”
“Please, sir—” Errytt cut off the shop attendant with a flick of his wrist.
Cassie squirmed in her seat. “It’s fine, really. I’m fine. She was just showing me a few things and I’m all set. You can go back to whatever you were doing.”
He folded his arms over his chest and looked at the modest pile of clothes folded on the counter. “Is this your shopping?”
She winced. “Yeah. Is it too much? I don’t need all those things.”
“Rubbish. You need more. That’s nowhere near enough.” He plonked himself down on the sofa beside her, telling himself not to enjoy the little squeak of protest she made or the way the sofa was so small his large thigh pressed against her smaller one.
“Well,” he said to the attendant. “Show us what else you’ve got. Cassie needs the best you have to offer, and I want her to leave here with a very big pile of things and an even bigger smile on her face.”
