Hi ,

Normally, Friday is the day I send out my 5 Things email. But this week, I don't have 5 Things to share. The only Thing, or rather Person, I was and am obsessed with is Amanda Gorman.

I've watched her recitation of The Hill We Climb several times. I've Googled her and am following her on Instagram, signed up for her email list, and pre-ordered the special edition of her amazing poem.

Amanda Gorman's talent and poise leave me in awe and inspired.

It's hard to dispute this 22-year-old woman is a star and we'll be hearing a lot more from her in the years ahead. I'm grateful for the poems we have to look forward to hearing and reading.

Watching and listening to her also made me think about what I was doing at the age of 22.

I was living in West Berlin, working as a secretary at the U.S. Army Hospital. (I was a civilian, not a member of the Armed Forces.) While that was an adventurous thing to do at the time, I look at Amanda and am so, so impressed by what she's accomplished in her young life.

What were you doing at 22? (this is not about making comparisons; I'm simply curious 🥰)
