Hi ,

I love it when it rains in L.A. and last night the atmospheric river started dumping on SoCal and continues this morning. I know there's been flooding and mudslides in some areas and I don't love that. Me, I'm in the city and it hasn't impacted me in a dangerous way. Of course, I haven't been outside or driving, so I could be wrong about the danger element. I hope everyone in the rain zone is safe and dry.

Looking at the articles I read and saved to my 5 Things list this week, I see my obsession with what's good for the brain is still in full force...

=====

And, now, 5 Things for you to read...

1) Compassion Meditation Changes The Brain - as I've mentioned previously, I've been exploring mediation for more than a year. One of my favorite meditations is Loving Kindness and when I practice it, I always feel amazingly content with a deep sense of well-being.

2) How Traveling Can Change Your Brain - how could I pass this one up? New activities like traveling generally provide (new sites, food, smells, language), stimulate new connections between nerve cells and help the brain to generate new cells.

3) Science's Newest Miracle Drug Is Free - spending time in nature! I think this is probably good for your brain, too!

4) A few thoughts on Writing - whether you think so or not, you're a writer. And, that doubly true if you have a business. Nearly everything you do involves writing: website copy, emails, social media posts, newsletters, video scripts, podcast show notes and script...I wish I had realized this when I was in high school and university and spent more time learning the craft of writing.

5) Marketing Recommendation for the Biz Owners: In the Marketing Trailblazers Community we just finished reading and discussing Donald Miller's Marketing Made Simple. And Miller does make the foundational marketing elements remarkably simple, whether you're new to online marketing or a seasoned pro. He goes step by step with lots of examples and tips on how to develop your core business message (the solution you provide your potential customer), to building a website or landing page that sells for you, creating a lead converting offer, and an email nurture sequence. Download the free worksheet that goes with the book and work through it as you read the book. That's where you'll get the most value.
