Adam’s World Weekly 4/20 – Making Plans

Adam’s World Weekly 4/20
It’s been exactly one month since my dad passed away, joining my mom in Heaven, and I have been busy putting together a dual celebration of life for them.
This past week I booked the venue I wanted (which doesn’t normally do memorials, so it’s a pretty big deal that they said yes), and I filled out all the paperwork so we can make it happen at the beginning of June.
While planning this for the near future, I’ve also been thinking a lot about what I want my life to look like in the not-so-near future.
It’s very strange to not have the guidance of my parents. It’s not that I’d be asking them what to do, but I always liked running my ideas by them, seeing their enthusiasm, and fielding the occasional question about how I was going to go about making something happen.
My blog has been a huge part of my life for so long, and I still enjoy writing it. Heck, I wrote four more columns for it this past week! That said, I’ve also been having a number of ideas for books.
As you all know I’ve been pitching a compilation of my One Hit Wondering columns – which would be the ultimate combination of my blog, and desire to write more books – but I’ve been hitting a lot of walls in the pitching process. This has me considering another path. Maybe it’s time I begin to learn how to self-publish.
This week I’m going to dive into as many articles, and YouTube videos, as possible, and see if it’s something I can manage. If I feel it’s doable, an entirely new path could open for me, and it’s one I hadn’t imagined before.
Writing more books is a very new dream, and to have those books under the Adam’s World name is something I hadn’t even considered.
The possibilities of what this could lead to are pretty exciting, and I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with a buddy of mine yesterday talking about it (thanks, Bear!).
Of course, step one is figuring out if it’s something I can do, and that’s going to take a little bit of research.
So while you probably won’t be able to pick up an Adam’s World book for a little while, don’t worry, there’s still plenty on Adam’s World Blog for you to check out. Leading things off this week is my interview with blues artist Kelli Baker. Kelli has led a truly interesting life, and you’re going to want to read about the very awkward on stage moment she had with a member of Gin Blossoms, and how she wound up opening for the Insane Clown Posse.
In addition to that feature, I also have fresh editions of Pop Shots, and my NYC Scene Report for you to check out.

As always, thanks for reading, and have a fantastic week.
