Adam’s World Weekly 1/19 – How a Coffee Mug Changed an Interview

Adam’s World Weekly for 1/19
Occasionally the interview gods will throw a dumb luck surprise right in front of you, and if you’re quick enough to pick up on it you’ll get a story you never expected.
That’s actually the premise for my Stacking The Deck series of interviews, but this past Monday, I was doing a more traditional interview with LFO’s Brad Fischetti over Zoom when the interview gods made some magic happen.
The interview was later than usual for me, and I was drinking hot chocolate (like an adult) out of one of my many coffee mugs. I have a small, but unique collection of mugs, and keep five in rotation at all times, including three from the WWE.
Early in the interview Brad mentioned having toured with Ryan Cabrera. It just so happened I was using my Alexa Bliss coffee mug, and jumped at the chance to say, “I’m currently drinking out of a mug that has his wife’s name on it,” lifting the mug to show him in the Zoom.
Brad then launched into not one, but two stories that connected LFO and Alexa Bliss.
These were stories I would have never heard had I not been using that particular mug that night (and known Ryan Cabrera is married to Alexa Bliss), and I was thrilled to have them as part of the article.
It was good to have both that interview, and another, this past week, and be able to bury myself in work for a few hours at a time, because outside of work my life was an emotional mess.
My dad had to be rushed back to the ER again, and I was seriously concerned I was going to lose him. The doctors and nurses, however, were incredible, and he’s almost ready to return to the care facility, and get back to healing.
When he was admitted, and looked in really bad shape, I kept trying to remind myself it’s always darkest before the dawn, and after six hours with him in the ER I got back in my car, turned on the radio, and the very first thing I heard after a second of silence was George Michael’s voice saying, “I gotta have faith.” It was like the universe was speaking to me, reminding me that from the outset “have faith” has been one of my mantras. It was comforting, and put my mind in a much better place.
Having, as noted before, buried myself in work, this week’s update is led off by my aforementioned interview with Brad Fischetti of LFO. It’s way deeper than you might imagine, and is a heck of a read.
In addition to that feature I also have fresh editions of Pop Shots, and my NYC Scene Report for you to check out.
